Time To Get A Grip

Dearly Beloved,
ONCE AGAIN IT IS TIME TO GET A GRIP!
Pvt. South has been drafted (again) after a one year leave as my sons got together and turned Pvt. South into a Blogger, whatever that is because I don’t even own a computer. I have been told that is about to change…… Keep your powder dry!

December, 2008 was my last column after six years of writing opinions weekly, then monthly for a small town paper. October, November and December, my last three were all about the “Big” election in November, 2008. Pvt. South was always looking ahead trying to figure out how things would turn out for “We The People” in the future. Last December Pvt. South stated, “Obama would get my vote if he proved to be a good leader.” Now, one year later for all you citizens out there who voted for “Hope” and “Change” how’s that working out? He reminds me of Jimmy Carter, platitudes and a big smile. President Carter is a very nice man but was a DUD as President. Putting President’s Obama and Carter side by side makes a wonderful pair of liberal bookends. Unfortunately “We The People” must endure three more years of “Whatever!”

The Republican Party gaining majority control of Congress in the 2010 mid-term elections is very important and the only chance for America to get back on track. For all the conservatives out there, let’s say the “Tea Party Type”, the next post will be those last three articles about the election of 2008. Pay particular attention to the December 2008 article because Pvt. South made a list of 13 issues that will make you think. That should answer many of the three points and change of the initial posting on this blog from the left!

To keep Pvt. South fair and balanced my boys recruited the one liberal who loves Obama, Al Gore and Pvt. South! This dude really needs help but I love him like a brother! When Pvt. South blogs, the watchdog won’t be far behind, using the pseudonym, Corporal Punishment. How about that, outranked, but never outsmarted!

On another note it has occurred to Pvt. South that penmanship is an issue in schools today. With texting, iPod messaging, you name it the written document has lost the prestige it once held. We hold dear the “Founding Documents” not just for what they say but how as a Nation they connect us when we stand before those documents. That is our Republic. That is what gives us the ease to debate, listen, confer, debate again and resolve issues of the people, by the people, and for the people in a peaceful manner. An old statement that still has legs!

The beauty of Calligraphy in American History is in the study of how this Nation came alive in words first seen in type form later to be finalized in a single document or a series of documents hand written, and signed by those with the courage to be charged with treason.
